Microdosing 101

One of the hottest new buzzwords in the industry, “microdosing” is making its way into the day-to-day lives of people who may have never heard the term before. If you’re not hip with the lingo, microdosing is when you take a small amount of cannabis to create a specific effect without getting too high.

Now, you may be thinking, “Wait, the biggest benefit of cannabis is getting high!” In fact, cannabis has many health benefits, and consuming a small amount has proven to reduce inflammation, help with anxiety, pain, nausea, and depression–all while not having to experience the high that normally goes along with cannabis use.

If you’re interested in the benefits of microdosing, here are a few ways to get started:

  1. Learn your dose. Learning the right dosage for your medical needs takes a great deal of self-control, as it’s easy to over-do it. Start small and monitor the benefits of that dose. We make it easy to control how much (or little) you ingest by making sativa and indica sublingual sprays, or you can enjoy some of a 10mg honey stick in the morning with tea or yogurt. Some people have also reported a hit from a vape once every few hours has helped them throughout the day.      It’s usually recommended to start around 10mg a serving, but for some users that could be too much THC.   2. Try out different strains and methods. Different strains and methods of ingestion change the effects of cannabis.  Smoking or vaping will make you feel different than an edible. Find which method works best for you. CBD has been making headlines for its powerful health benefits helping people with inflammation, depression, and anxiety, but THC also has strong therapeutic benefits helping with insomnia, nausea, and pain relief. CBD has no psychoactive effect on its own, and paired with THC helps lessen the cerebral high. Finding a ratio right for your needs and preference is key.
  3. Keep track. Some people go so far as to keep a journal of dose amount, time, strain, and method. But if that’s a little too involved for you, make sure you’re still mindful of those things and the benefits you experienced. Maybe you do better on days when you have a little less, or take sativa over indica. The great thing about microdosing is that there are many different ways to do it, and with so many options out there, it’s hard to get it wrong–unless of course you take too much, but even then, keep track of your dose and re-evaluate the next day.
